Investigation Discovery (ID), the network that produced the Nickelodeon child abuse documentary Quiet on Set, will present a new documentary that will highlight Chris Brown’s legal issues and history of abuse. ID’s third annual ‘No Excuse for Abuse’ campaign will showcase the documentary Chris Brown: A History of Violence on October 27.

The program will delve into Brown’s controversial past, including domestic violence and assault charges, as well as allegations of sexual assault. In 2009, the pop star, known for hits such as ‘With You,’ ‘Forever,’ and ‘Under the Influence,’ made headlines for his brutal assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna. The attack left her with severe injuries that required hospitalization, and Brown later pleaded guilty to felony assault, accepting a plea deal. Brown has encountered additional legal issues throughout the years, such as pleading guilty to another assault and settling a sexual assault lawsuit without going to court.

The documentary’s plot states that Chris Brown: A History of Violence will trace the singer’s troubled past back to his childhood.

Exploring the cycle of abuse and raising questions about how someone with such a violent public record can remain a global superstar. The psychological impact of abuse and its long-lasting consequences will be explored through expert commentary and survivor’s reflections.

A new accuser is introduced in the trailer of the documentary, but her identity is not revealed. She states, “I have not spoken about this matter publicly, but that’s the only way he can be stopped,”suggesting that there are additional accusations against Brown.

Sunny Hostin, who co-hosts The View, will be leading a discussion about intimate partner violence after The View’s October 27 broadcast. Hostin, who was a former prosecutor, shared her personal connection with the issue, stating, “Domestic violence is a very close, personal issue to me… The more we know, the better we can help advocate for change as a society.”

ID is addressing abuse issues with Chris Brown: A History of Violence, which follows similar exposés including Quiet on Set that looked at behind-the-scenes child abuse on Nickelodeon shows.
