Growing up, I would always dream of one day having my photos printed and displayed in art galleries around the globe. Magazines, newspapers, and posters were the tangible items which us millennials would one day regretting taking for granite. From rip-out posters in J-14 and Teen Beat Magazines (something this generation cannot fathom) to Instagram and re-tweets our world has forgotten the lost art of the print.

While there are physical art galleries still out there, many also offer digital shows, which in my opinion is contributing to the dying art of the print. There are several in the area where I am from in Fort Worth, Texas, in which I truly admire. Art Space 111, House of Neville, and the Masure Gallery of Photography have dedicated their efforts into keeping the printing world alive.

“Located in downtown Fort Worth, Artspace111 specializes in the exhibition of Contemporary Texas Art. In 1980, twin brothers Daniel and Dennis Blagg established Artspace111, converting a historic 1911 building into artist studios and a small gallery space in order to support and celebrate the work of local artists. In the years since, the studio has evolved into a celebrated and distinguished 3,000 square foot art gallery. In addition to the year-round schedule of solo and group exhibitions, the Artspace111 team designs corporate and private art collections for clients throughout the country and hosts special events in its distinctive gallery and sculpture gardens. Artspace111 is dedicated to making contemporary art approachable to individuals of all ages.”

I have had the pleasure of visiting this gallery on a couple of occasions. The first time I visited, I was in awe of the space. It is very open and modern but with the touch of vintage. The building has beautiful brick on the outside, and the outdoor event space is simply gorgeous. When you walk in, you can feel the creativity flowing from wall to wall. The contemporary artists who are represented in this space truly have unique gifts.

The House of Neville is a warm, welcoming art gallery. The staff is quite friendly and they have a true passion for all things art. Their mission is to: “At House of NeVille Gallery & Gatherings, our mission is to create a community that celebrates the transformative power of creativity. We believe in enlightening lives through the healing benefits of art, making the world a more peaceful and beautiful place for all.”

“Our story is a testament to the transformative power of community and art. It all began in a humble, junky warehouse where the seeds of creativity were sown. This was Everybody’s Place, a sanctuary where the neighborhood came together to celebrate life and create art. Our mission was simple yet profound: to create a community by enlightening people’s lives through the healing benefits of art. As the winds of change blew, we transitioned into Studio 101, a new space that was made possible through the unwavering support, patronage, and prayers of our friends and community members. Although unforeseen circumstances led to its closure, the spirit of Studio 101 lived on. A year later, destiny guided us to a magical building on the bricks of Camp Bowie. Thus, House of NeVille Gallery & Gatherings was born. At House of NeVille, we believe in the healing benefits of creativity and are committed to educating and inspiring future generations to carry this legacy forward. We provide a safe and welcoming environment where individuals can find their creative voice and express themselves with confidence. Through this, we aim to create a ripple effect of positive change, enriching and empowering lives. We strive to bring joy and meaning to everyone who passes through our doors, making the world a more peaceful and beautiful place for all.”

The Masure Gallery of Photography is newer to the game compared to other galleries in the area, however, they are the driving force to keeping the printing game alive. I have had the honor of working alongside them and seeing their visions come to life.
