If LeBron Doesn’t Win a Championship In Lakers’ Uniform It’s a Let Down, Says T-Mac

LeBron James is in his second year with the Los Angeles Lakers since signing a four-year deal worth $154 million. Last season, James had the Lakers as the fourth seed headed into the Christmas game against the Golden State Warriors.

Unfortunately, LeBron James went down with a groin injury, and the Lakers never recovered as they would miss the playoffs as they finished fourth in their division and tenth in the Western Conference. In the office season, they traded their young core for the Pelicans Anthony Davis.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the New Orleans Pelicans will send Davis to Los Angeles in exchange for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks.

It was later reported that, “this year’s No. 4 overall selection, a top-eight protected pick in 2021 (which becomes unprotected in 2022 if it does not convey), the right to swap first-round picks with the Lakers in 2023, and an unprotected 2024 first-round pick that New Orleans can defer to 2025.”

It was a great decision because the Los Angeles Lakers got the second Superstar they sought in Davis. The Lakers are currently first in the Western Conference and have a six-and-a-half-game lead on the Los Angeles Clippers after the two teams played each other on Thursday night, which resulted in a 103-101 victory for the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Los Angeles Clippers are all heavy favorites to win this season’s championship. Still, the Lakers and LeBron James have added pressure after the passing of arguably the greatest Laker of all time in Kobe Bryant earlier this year.

On Thursday’s episode of ESPN’s Jump, Tracy McGrady stated that even though LeBron James’s legacy already has him in the Hall of Fame as a first-ballot player, if he doesn’t win at least another ring in a Lakers uniform, it will be a ‘Let Down.’

“LeBron [James] is there to win a championship. If he doesn’t win a championship in that Laker uniform. It is a let down, trust me,” said McGrady.

The Los Angeles Lakers will play the Toronto Raptors on Saturday at 8:30 PM EST.
