Earlier this year, Power creator Courtney Kemp was a guest on The Crew Has It with  Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo. During her appearance, she talked about the casting of Ghost, who Omari Hardwick played.

However, Hardwick was not the only one who audition for the role, American God’s Ricky Whittle and Boris Kodjoe were amongst some of individuals to come in a read for the part. And according to Kemp, she was very impressed with Kodjoe’s performance.

“A fun fact you know who killed his audition for Ghost? Like murder it? Boris Kodjoe! No one ever believes me, but Boris was amazing. First of all, Boris speaks like 900 languages, and he is physically imposing and all the things. It’s he is so beautiful, and he’s so like it’s just well this doesn’t feel real now, whatever, but I have to give him his props because we saw pretty much every black actor there was at that time, you know what I mean, and Boris murdered it murdered it,” said Kemp.

On Sunday afternoon, Boris Koejoe participated in Dirk Nowitzki’s 5th annual tennis event at SMU [Southern Methodist University] to raise money for the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation.

During the event, Koejoe thanked Kemp for her kind words.

“Oh, I appreciate it. I don’t remember it, but it was a lot of years ago, I think. But I appreciate her saying that. Very nice of her. Thank you, Courtney… Appreciate it,” said Koejoe.

Ultimately, the role went to Omari Hardwick, who killed the role and helped turn the show into the icon series that it is today.
