Last month, Drake received a historic Billboard Hot 100 debut with three songs topping the chart, and he’s used the occasion to thank one of his inspirations.
His singles What’s Next, Wants and Needs, and Lemon Pepper Freestyle grabbed the top spots. Drake decided to hold a 1-2-3 themed party. The celebrations included a cake with the top 10 on the table and several special guests. Amongst them, Bow Wow, which appeared in a series of videos with Drake via her Instagram Stories.
“I had to link with Wizzle. Everybody wants to have drinks and everybody wants to celebrate and turn up and, you know, I just had to see Wizzle. I had to see Wizzle in person,” he said of Bow Wow. “If it wasn’t for you, there wouldn’t be no me. That’s why—you know the rest, that’s why I’mma rock with y’all forever more.”
In the early 2000s, Bow Wow and Soulja Boy were pioneers in the hip-hop culture regarding how marketing campaigns and music tours work. Legendary music producer and entrepreneur L.T. Hutton agrees.
Hutton was on the Clubhouse app on Sunday afternoon and shared his thoughts on Bow Wow’s legendary career.
“I’m going to go on record and say stop playing with Bow Wow’s name. He is a legend, says Hutton.
“That man’s body of work, what he did, and the age that he started. I’m telling you, the n*** was doing stadiums as a child. They were coming out, and there are some women on her right now that still want to f*** Bow Wow to this day because of what he did on the Stream Tour. Bow Wow has hit records, and I’m 樂威壯 going to tell you the last time I saw a reaction to how they reacted to Bow Wow was Michael Jackson.”
