Rev. Al Sharpton says that Meek Mill is a ‘Smart Guy’

The focus was on Meek’s legal troubles. He’s currently serving a 2-4 year prison sentence for probation violations.
Meek Mill, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams has been on probation since 2007 after an arrest on gun and drug charges.
He was sent to prison in 2017 by Judge Genece Brinkley, who has overseen his case since 2007 after the rapper was arrested for a dirt bike stunt and in a separate altercation in a St. Louis airport.
Both charges were later dropped.
“It was always a thought in the back of my mind that ten years of probation would bring me back to prison,” Meek Mill told NBC Nightly News anchor, Lester Holt, by phone.
Meek Mill has had much support from his fraternity of athletes and entertainers. Jay-Z, LeBron James, Kevin Hart and New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft have all been vocal.
Add civil rights activist and National Action Network president, Rev. Al Sharpton to that list.
Rev. Sharpton visited Meek Mill in jail in Chester, PA and said he had a deep conversation with the Philly rapper.
“I learned that he was a smart guy,” Rev. Al Sharpton told Scoop B Radio’s Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson.
“He was sincere, and he really was committed to more than himself. He kept saying: ‘Reverend Al, I appreciate you coming to fight for me, but also this fight is for a lot of people that are mere minor infractions and are in jail.’ I was very moved by that.”
Added Reverend Sharpton:
“I think he’s sincerely committed to fighting for probation of reform, and I think that we will be able to get him out.”
