Mavs Will Give Out Special NFTs On Dirk Nowitzki’s Jersey Retirement Night, Says Mark Cuban

Dallas Mavericks Governor Mark Cuban announced that the Dallas Mavericks would be debuting exclusive NFTs.

“What we’re trying to do with NFT’s is everybody who goes to a Mavs game, and scans their smart ticket from Ticketmaster, and has a Ticketmaster account. Then, we’re going to deposit a specially created NFT for Mavs fans for every game you attend. And the more in, the more games you attend, the more NFT’s you’ll get, and the more consecutive games you attend, you’ll be rewarded for going to a lot of games, said Cuban.

“So if LB buys a ticket on the Mavs’ website through Ticketmaster and goes to the game and scans in your account, then when the game is over, you’ll be able to go to a website we’re setting up and the NFT collectible will be there for you. And if you go to 10 games in a row or go to 10 games in total, we’ll gamify it and there’ll be different rewards just for that. And so that’s something we’re working on right now in our testing.”

Earlier this month, the Mavericks announced the organization’s first NFT giveaway.

In an interview last month with Fortyeightminutes.com, Cuban was asked how much NFTs from the 2011 championship team would go for?

“I don’t know; it’s hard to value things, right? But we’re not going to put out NFT’s trying to just sell them to make money,” Cuban said.

“We’re trying to make it so that we reward Mavs fans who go to games, and we may even do it for Mavs fans who watch games and issue them a different NFT. And then if there’s enough demand for them, they can sell them and whatever they make is an offset to their season ticket.”

Dirk Nowitzki was a member of that the Dallas Mavericks that won the championship in 2011. However, it was recently announced that the Mavs will be retiring Nowitzki’s jersey on January 5, 2022.

During a recent interview with Dwain Price of Mavs.com, Cuban shared that they will be releasing some special NFTs.

“I love Dirk to death. I’m thrilled for him. Every award he gets is awesome. We’re not going to have a statue unveiling or anything like that. We might tease what it looks like, but it’s pretty obvious what it’s going to look like. We’re going to have some special NFT’s made.”

The Washington Wizards beat the Dallas Mavericks 120-114 on Saturday night improving their record to 13-7, while Dallas is now 10-8.
