Kathleen Bradley: ‘Ms. Parker’ Reflects on Friday, Bernie Mac, and Her Lasting Legacy
Kathleen Bradley, forever etched in pop culture as the sultry and unforgettable Ms. Parker from Ice Cube’s 1995 classic Friday, opens up in a candid new interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson. Reflecting on her iconic role, her experience working with comedy legends like Bernie Mac, and the possibility of reprising her character in the long-awaited Last Friday, Bradley shares personal memories and her continued passion for entertainment.
On Scoop B Radio, Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson sat down with Kathleen Bradley, who is widely known as the unforgettable ‘Ms.’ Parker from the 1995 cult classic Friday. The interview, broadcasting from Los Angeles in the sunshine, captures both nostalgia and excitement. Wisdom from the first African-American model to join The Price Is Right, and a woman whose role in pop culture remains iconic nearly 30 years later.
“Hi Miss Parker!”
“Hi boys, how y’all doing?” Bradley greets with the line that made her famous — and it still hits like it did in ’95. When Scoop B asks if the legendary greeting ever gets old, her response is as timeless as her character: “No, it doesn’t.”
Bradley is still pondering the cultural significance of Friday, particularly during Halloween, when fans still dress up as her character.
“Everybody was emulating Ms. Parker and always wants to try to be me — and the men want me,” she laughs. “So what more can you ask for?”
A Possible Return Of Last Friday?
Fans have been speculating whether the beloved franchise will ever have a final chapter for quite some time. According to Bradley, there is hope.
“Yeah, I believe we will. There will be a Last Friday forthcoming.”
She remains optimistic despite the delays caused by creativity and business disagreements between Ice Cube, Lionsgate, and the writers.
“They’ve been butting heads about what it should be like. I haven’t personally seen a script, but I hope they can come to a happy medium.”
Of course, she adds with a smile, “Miss Parker must be in the movie. Lord have mercy. The Lord is my shepherd — He know what I want!”
Ice Cube recently confirmed with THR that the Friday movie franchise will return with its final installment, Last Friday.
Friday alum Chris Tucker recently spoke with Nick Hamilton of Nitecast Media about returning to his iconic role as Smokey.
“I don’t know, I don’t know. Everything has to line up right,” Tucker said. “I did it, and it was done. But you know, I’d love to do something else with Cube. So we’ll see, man. You never know what’ll happen.”
Remembering Bernie Mac and Others We’ve Lost
Bradley is remorseful when asked about working with comedian Bernie Mac, who had a brief but unforgettable scene in Friday.
“He was just wonderful to talk to, to work with, and funny. The whole time was just a marvelous time.”
In hindsight, each performance was even more impressive retrospectively because of the tight budget and limited takes for scenes, such as the famous brick-through-the-window moment. Bradley fondly remembered other cast members who have passed away, including John Witherspoon (Pops), Tommy “Tiny” Lister (Deebo), and Yvette Wilson. Though she didn’t share scenes with Witherspoon, she’s close friends with his wife, Angela Robinson Witherspoon, with whom she recently played golf.
“He’s so missed right now, I can tell you that,” she added.
Life Beyond Friday
Kathleen Bradley has been occupied since she started working on the Friday set. Continuing to express herself creatively, she has made independent films such as A Day of Trouble and her most recent short film, Something About Mother. She has also been active in commercials and public appearances, including charity events and golf tournaments, such as the one hosted by the Gordy Foundation, where the interview took place.
“I just love playing golf and getting ready to get out here and have a good time,” she said with a warm smile, eyes on the fairway. “But Miss Parker will work just fine.”
Final Thoughts
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson once again brings out the soul of Hollywood in his latest Scoop B Radio sit-down. Through the lens of joy, memory, and resilience, Kathleen Bradley shows that Ms. Parker is not just a character but also a cultural landmark. Last Friday was approaching, and fans can be confident that Ms. Parker’s ability to make hearts skip is still present, and Kathleen Bradley’s legacy is only getting stronger.
