Zircon Skyeband has a gift for elevating the ordinary to something celestial with their newest single, “I’m Into Something Good,” from their “Tell Yo’ Mama Not to Worry” EP. Herman’s Hermits made this song a hit in 1964, and Carole King and Gerry Goffin initially created it. Still, in this reimagined version, Past can hear shouts older than that, giving new life to an old possibility.

Warmth comes spilling into the room, like sunlight through clouds, from the early trumpet. The horn is not so much played as it is radiated, with a feel-good vibe and lead vocals that unleash an undeniable charm.

Zircon Skyeband preserves the innocence of the original while layering in textures that render it their own. The end product is an experience that not only asks you to listen, but also implores you to groove.

This is a trip through time, but one that spans eras, linking the golden age of 1960s pop with an astonishing landscape of contemporary creativity. Prompted by each note, the band reminds us why music endures because it can be made new and reopened for reconsideration and celebration. That’s what Zircon Skyeband does, and “I’m Into Something Good” gives the impression they are into something better.
