In “Sea Of Memories,” Richard Green provides a dreamlike finale to the first chapter of his musical trilogy, “A Journey.” The song, recorded at the world-famous Studio Elfo just outside Piacenza, Italy, transcends basic songwriting, effortlessly merging memory with time and introspection to create a deeply personal and universally relatable atmosphere.
Hailing from Milan and London, Green flavours his work with a typical European flair that, combined with the emotional depth of contemporary piano composers like Yiruma and Allevi, creates an equally cinematic atmosphere. Ultimately, the result feels like the outcome of a story we’ve all lived in one way or another.
With pianist Irene Veneziano and the soulful Archimia string quartet in tow, Green builds with sound as texture, allowing each note to undulate like ripples on the water. The piano takes the lead in a subtle, gentle yet purposeful manner, as the strings pluck and rise, then fall back down to mimic the rhythm of memory.
“Sea of Memories” is music that tells a story, but also takes you back to your own journey. In “A Journey,” Richard Green demonstrates once again that even tracks with no lyrics can convey their intended message. “Sea of Memories” is an awakening, a message that every life is a distinct and beautiful symphony of days remembered.
