Reggie Miller Prepared Himself To Be A Villain, Says Former Laker Sam Perkins
Scoop B and Reg had former Los Angeles Lakers Sam Perkins as a guest on their new podcast over All-Star Weekend in Charlotte. During the second installment of the podcast, Scoop B asked the former Tar Heel if he saw any similarities in the mentality of his former teammates Michael Jordan and Reggie Miller. Being that they both entered the NBA as point guards and then transitioned into shooting guards?
“ Yes, I do, playing with Michael in school and they had some sort of tenacity for wanting to win. They wanted to beat everyone that they came across if possible, that challenged them and Reggie was like that too. So, Reggie prepared for the game I have never seen a guy and I played with Magic and Michael, but another guy I never have seen do some of the things to prepare themselves for the game. Reggie was a villain everywhere we went on the road, I think we went to Philly and they vilified him to the
point that you did not want to come out there and play. He came and wanted to see that, and Reggie loves that grit and dirty grind,“ Perkins told Scoop & Reg.
Perkins continued:
He prepares himself for all of that and goes back at him. When he did the choke sign in New York in Spike Lee’s direction. I think he lives for that and Michael does too. That’s the kind of people they are
and he (Reggie) does not get credit for it because he has been overshadowed by Michael and all of his greatness,“ said Perkins.

During his sixteen-year career, he played for teams the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Seattle Supersonics, and the Indiana Pacers the 6.9 combo-big-man played down in the post and could stretch the floor in the small forward position, averaged 11.9 points, six rebounds, and 1.5 assists according to Basketball-References.
