Lisa Leslie Makes Mouth Dropping Statement on Cheryl Miller, and Tina Thompson
Lisa Leslie is one of the most decorated women’s basketball players of all time. Even before she started at Morningside High School in Inglewood, California, Lisa received more than a hundred college offers, including institutions such as the University of Tennessee and Stanford University.
Leslie became an immediate force at Morningside as she started every game for the girls’ varsity team. She was a three-sport athlete as she was also a part of the volleyball team and the track & field team. She would go on to compete in the state competition in both the 400-meter run and the high jump.
During her sophomore year, she was already dunking in the open court. As a senior, Leslie had developed into the county’s top player and would lead her team to a state championship while averaging 27 points and 15 rebounds a game.
After graduating high school, Leslie elected to attend the University of Southern California, and during her four years at USC, she averaged 20.1 points, shooting 53.4%from the field, and 69.8% from the free-throw line. She also set the Pac 10 record at the time for scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots as she poured in 2,414 points, 1,214 rebounds, and accumulated 321 blocked shots. The Trojans appeared in four NCAA Tournaments during Leslie’s tenure and captured on Pac 10 Championship.
Leslie is one of the Lady Trojans, who left her a mark on women’s basketball. Some of the others are Tina Thompson, Cynthia Cooper- Dyke, and Cheryl Miller. Leslie recently shared with me, who is in her All-Time starting five at USC to face a team from the University of Connecticut.
“Oh, so we are going to ball out. At the center position, we would have me, at the one I would Cooper, so we are really loaded. I would Cheryl Miller at the two and Tina Thompson at the three, and we might be in trouble defensively though… But then I am going to bring in Pam McGee at the four positions just in case things get physical. I’ll let Pam handle it, but we might be in trouble on defense though, I know Tina can’t guard [Diana] Taurasi. We might have to have Coop guard [Diana] Taurasi, but we would have to figure out who the rest of their five would be… That’s a good question, though!”
Lisa Leslie currently is the Head Coach for the Triplets in the BIG3 professional basketball league, and she also is a studio analyst for Orlando Magic broadcasts on Fox Sports Florida.
