Lakers LeBron James Not Happy Pittsburgh Steelers Are In The Playoffs [Watch]
The Pittsburgh Steelers made the playoffs following the Las Vegas Raiders 35-32 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. The game would end with a game-winning field goal Daniel Carlson hit the 47-yard field goal to send the Raiders to the playoffs.
However, many blame Brandon Staley for the Los Angeles Chargers missing the playoffs following a timeout, including former Jets head coach Rex Ryan.
“We’re being robbed as NFL fans that we don’t get to see Justin Herbert in the playoffs,” Ryan said on ESPN’s “Get Up.” “This guy coaches like he’s a Division III coach that nobody cares about. It’s hard not to make the playoffs with a franchise quarterback. But congratulations, you did it. How he faces his football team after this one is incredible to me.”
If the game ended in a tie, the Chargers and the Raiders would have earned a playoff birth, and it would have sent Pittsburgh Steelers home for the winter. But, instead, Staley called a timeout with 38 seconds left in overtime, and the Raiders would come back to run the ball down into field range with two seconds left in the game.
“We felt like they were gonna run the ball, so we wanted to get our best 11-personnel run defense in [the game],” Staley said after the game.
“My mindset was to make the field goal as long as possible.”
Like many Chargers fans, other fans, such as Lakers center LeBron James weren’t happy that Pittsburgh is heading to the playoffs.
“Obviously, I’m upset about Pittsburgh making the playoffs,” said James after a 127-119 loss against the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night.
The Steelers are scheduled to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, while the Lakers play the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.
