Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard Says He’s Feeling A Lot Better
Kawhi Leonard has not suited up for the Los Angeles Clippers suffered a right knee injury during Game 4 of the 2021 Western Conference semifinals against the Utah Jazz. After the game, Leonard downplayed his injury when asked by TNT’s Rebecca Haarlow, saying, “I’ll be good.”
The Athletic reported the Clippers feared that Leonard might have suffered an ACL injury.
Last July, I reported that Leonard could be out for the season.
I later reported that Leonard would need surgery and Shams Charania from The Athletic confirmed that he had surgery for an ACL injury. Typically, that type of injury has an athlete sidelined for 6-9 months. However, Leonard is not the only Clippers All-Star out with an injury. Paul George is also out after suffering a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow. Per the Athletic, George’s issues with his right elbow date back to the 2018 off-season.
Last week, I reported that both are getting healthier and they are a possibility they could return this season, according to an NBA source.
Meanwhile, over the All-Star Weekend, Leonard was in Cleveland for the NBA top 75 celebration and was asked how he was feeling by NBA legend and Hall of Famer Rick Barry. He replied, “I’m feeling a lot better. I’m trying to get back out there man.”
The Clippers are currently in the eighth spot in the Western Conference with a three-game lead over the Lakers. The Clippers are looking to move up in the standings to avoid the play-in tourney at the seventh and eighth positions.
