Charlamagne Tha God Credits 50 Cent & G-Unit for the Inspiration for Donkey of the Day

since it first made its debut

The Breakfast Club has been the pulse of the hip hop culture since it was first made its debut back in December 2010 on New York’s Power 105.1. It three hosts  DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God, are currently broadcasting in 90 plus radio markets around the country and is also televised on REVOLT every morning.

On the program, the trio regular discusses common topics such as celebrity gossip in the hip hop industry, politics, and sexual and dating issues. Charlamagne Tha God is explicitly widely known as a savage that asks honest questions that might make people feel uncomfortable at times. There has been some remember run-ins with Kanye West, Birdman, Beanie Sigel, and his comment towards Lil Kim led to him being ambushed outside of the Power 105 Radio Station.

On the Breakfast Club, they have created some culture segments, including Angela Yee’s Ask Yee for dating advice, The Rumor Report, and Charlamagne’s Donkey of the Day. There has been a lot of individuals who have received the prestigious Donkey of the Day award. For example, Katie Perry, Tomi Lahren, Sean Hannity, DJ Envy, Omari Hardwick, Meek Mill, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift & Safaree, Charlamagne Tha God and President Donald Trump to name a few.

Earlier this year I spoke to Charlamagne Tha God about what initially inspired him for the segment in the first place, and he credited G-Unit and 50 Cent.

“Ha! Ha! I don’t remember who the first person ever was but check this out for irony. It was inspired by a skit on a G Unit mixtape where 50 Cent says something to the effect “I pull up to curb in the hood, I look around and I say look at these Donkeys! A bunch of fucking jack asses!” So that’s what inspired me calling people Donkeys and I don’t remember who the first person ever was I gave Donkey to because it was a segment I started in Philadelphia when I did my own morning show there, but the first person to ever get Donkey on the Breakfast Club was 50 Cent for saying a song he had with Michael was a 2010 “Thriller.”

Charlamagne recently made an appearance on CNN with Don Lemon and shared that he feels the  Democratic presidential candidate to face President Trump in 2020 will be Kamala Harris.
