Power Book II: Ghost Star Sydney Winbush Didn't Know Anya Was Being Killed Off

On the most recent episode of The Crew Has It Podcast, hosted by Gianni Paolo and Michael Rainey Jr., the stars of the Power Book II: Ghost series discuss. Their guest was actress Sydney Winbush, who played Anya Convington in season four of Power Book II: Ghost.

During the podcast episode, Winbush revealed that before her character was killed off the show, she didn't know that her character was dying.

"During episode 4 or 5, we had a rehearsal, and our showrunner (Brett Mahoney) ran into me and was like, 'You're doing such a great job. I'm loving it, keep it up.' I was like, 'Cool,'" said Winbush.

"So, I went to talk to him afterward, and I was like, I'm going to die. You can tell me, 'Am I dying?' and he was like, 'You know, people die on this show.' I was like, alrighty, thank you. But it just made sense to me. Especially once I saw Noma Asaju (Caroline Chikezie) kill Monet (Mary J. Blige). I was like, right, right."

Diana Tejada (LaToya Tonodeo) shot and killed Anya Convington in season 4, Episode 10 (Ghost in the Machine), the series finale, in revenge for Noma Asaju's killing of her mother, Monet Tejada. The Tejadas kidnapped Anya for a brief period, and she was rescued by Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) before Diana caught up to her.

This act marked the beginning of the end for Noma and her empire's leadership. Earlier in the season, Anya was made aware of what her mother really did for a living and that she is also the reason for the death of her father, Francesco Lombardi (Anthony Alessandro), whose drug empire and famous art collection Noma took over.

While they were in Italy on a business trip with Weston Holdings to help RSJ (Ron Samuel Jenkins) secure a deal with an Italian company, Nervina — it doubled as a drug mission for Noma to retrieve a device, allowing Tariq to expand his international reach in season 3, episode 5 ("No More Second Chances").

Later in the episode, Noma Asaju would also meet her maker in an airplane hangar at the hands of Cane Tejada (Woody McClain). Cane shoots his wife, Noma, in the forehead at her private jet hangar while the police are distracted. He would later be able to escape after ending the main threat of the entire season.

Cane sent Noma travel plans for three people from New York to Atlanta for 10 pm on a private jet to the hangar to lure her there, but the police and the feds showed up as soon as Noma arrived. Noma was ready for the ambush, but they only arrested Diana and Dru Tejada (Lovell Adams-Gray), while Cane got the drop on Noma and killed her.

"We didn't finish that dance. Didn't think my face would be the last one you see. Right?" said Cane.

"You could had everything with me," Noma replied.

"I had everything. Monet was everything. You — you're nothing," Cane responded. Then he pulled the trigger.

There was a small shootout with the police, where Cane was shot, but was able to escape.
