NBA Champion Richard Jefferson Reveals Favorite Memory Of 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers Run
The 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers became the first team in NBA history to come back from being down 3-1 to win an NBA Championship. The team was led by LeBron James and helped bring the franchise, their first championship, and the city the first world championship in 50-plus years.
Richard Jefferson was also on that team and was recently interviewed on NBA Top Shot Twitter Spaces. He was asked what his favorite moment was from that championship run during his interview.
“My favorite memory there’ a lot, but I think our togetherness as a group. We ate dinner together every night, and we would go out for drinks together every night. We were looking forward to hanging out with each other,” said Jefferson.
“We pushed each other in practice and motivated each other to get into the best shape that we could be in. There was just so much togetherness, all pushing in one direction, and that’s probably my favorite memory. And why we all still support each other. It could be Kevin Love and his mental health organization. It could be Iman Shumpert on Dancing With the Stars. Whatever it is we are still going to support each other.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers were able to beat the 73-9 Warriors that season in seven games. Following that series, the Golden State Warriors would go out and recruit Kevin Durant after he lost a 3-1 lead. The two franchises would face each other, two more times in the Finals with the Warriors getting the best of the Cavaliers.
As for Richard Jefferson, he has since retired and now works for ESPN as an NBA analyst. He can be seen on NBA Today on ESPN at 3 pm EST Monday through Friday.
