Last week, the Milwaukee Bucks and guard Jrue Holiday agreed on a contract extension worth $160 million. His agent, Jason Glushon of Glushon Sports Management, told The Athletic. The extension also includes a player option for the fourth year.
The eleven-year veteran was recently on Instagram Live with ESPN insider and analyst Jordan Schultz to discuss he and his wife, Lauren Holiday’s work with the Jrue and Lauren Holiday Social Justice Impact Fund.
“We where we are now, we added another city. We added Milwaukee, which is where we feel we can really make an impact. In the inner city and places that really can use a boost, we are still [dealing] with this pandemic. Just being the Bucks has been awesome,” said Holiday.
“They have been tremendous by connecting us with certain groups especially being able to empower black women and help them out. It has been awesome. Moving forward, we are putting little things together, and we are adding a couple of people to our team. One of them is Renee King, and she does crowdfunding. Really for people to grow your business and have people in their community helped to out. Then we match however funding that they make.”
He also added that they will also be adding Alexys Feaster, who served on President Obama’s re-election team.
“She also worked for the NBA for a little bit so, just bring her services and being able to help sustain some of these companies after we help them be successful for years to come.”
Last season, Holiday decided to donate the rest of his 2020 season salary to help with social justice causes.
“When she said that, I was like ‘Damn, you’re a genius,'” Holiday said. “I’ve been so blessed to make this money and to play basketball and still have a job, but there are people out there who need support from us.”
This season Holiday is averaging 17 points and 5.4 assists per game and is second in the league with 1.8 steals per game.
