Eleven years ago, TMZ reported that Vanessa filed for divorce from Kobe after catching another woman.

Vanessa and Kobe had no prenuptial agreements in place.

In 2012, “Stay Schemin” was released by Rick Ross, featuring Drake and French Montana on his Rich Forever mixtape. In the hit track Drake uttered the line, b*** you wasn’t wit me shootin in the gym!”

Drake was clearly taking a direct shot at Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa Bryant. The whole verse goes like this, “Shawty wanna tell me secrets ’bout a rap n****, I tell that bitch it’s more attractive when you hold it down. Kobe ’bout to lose a hundred fifty Ms, Kobe my n****, I hate it had to be him. B****, you wasn’t with me shootin’ in the gym,” said Drake.

Of course the verse caused sparked controversy Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Bryant’s divorce.

It was reported that Vanessa was looking for half of Kobe’s fortune and their Newport Coast, California mansion, giving inspiration to Drake’s song. The rapper hinted that Vanessa didn’t win half of Kobe’s fortune on the track.

It would cause Common to hop on the remix of the single. During the remix, he would address the line, which went like this, “‘Cause every song you make Joe is really h** music. I heard you said you wasn’t a b**** because you sing. You a b**** because you cling like a b**** that’s eighteen. Can’t say my name but rap about a n****’s wife.

“You so black and white, tryna to live a n****’s life
I’m taking too long with this amateur guy. You ain’t wet nobody, n**** you Canada dry, Soft nigga, make no mistake, I’m talking to Drake It’s the remix.”

The two were also beefing over Serena Williams, who both dated in the past.

“For me, I think it was an emotional thing,” the Chicago native told VladTV [H/t MTV.com]. “Meaning, I was feeling like, at that time, I think it was the Drake-Serena situation — I ain’t know what was going on with that. And I’m not know if he was throwing things, shots at me. You know, this my ex, and we kinda, you know, going our separate ways. Unfortunately, the war might have been over a girl, even though I never said that at the time.”

“But it wasn’t totally that,” he added. “It was more or less kind of like, man, do you respect me? ‘Cause I actually like you as an artist; that’s what I was thinking about Drake. Then it eventually became where I think he was like, Look, man, I feel you disrespecting me, too.”

In 2013, Vanessa elected to call off the divorce, “We are pleased to announce that we have reconciled. Our divorce action will be dismissed. We are looking forward to our future together,” Vanessa posted on the photo site, attributed to both, according to USA Today.

“I am happy to say that Vanessa and I are moving on with our lives together as a family. When the show ends and the music stops, the journey is made beautiful by having that someone to share it with. Thank you all for your support and prayers! Much luv, Mamba out,” Kobe said on his Facebook page.

As for if she replied to Drake, “I love when immature kids quote a rapper that has never been friends with Kobe and knows nothing about our relationship,” she wrote.

“Just shows how gullible they are. I don’t need to be in the gym. I’m raising our daughters, signing checks and taking care of everything else that pertains to our home life. […]”

Vanessa added “I really wish people would stop THINK and then realize that they are being sucked into someone’s clear intention to monetize and gain attention off of our family’s heartache.”

“This is real life. I hold down our home life so my husband can focus on his career. It’s a partnership.”

In a separate post shared, “Since my husband is isn’t friends with Drake, we received a text of an apology forwarded from his manager.”

“It’s done and over with, and it’s now time for people to THINK before speaking.”

Drake’s apology read, “I never intended to offend Vanessa or anyone else.”

Drake continued, “That line had everything to do with me and what goes on in my head as a 25-year-old man with this much income flowing in.”

He added “Kobe is and always will be a friend and an icon to me.”

Drake would later honor Bryant with Kobe Bryant court in his home, according to CBS Sports.
