Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson Catches Up With Legendary Football Coach Lou Holtz, And Discussed His Time On Notre Dame’s Sideline

Scoop B Radio recently caught up with former Notre Dame Football Coach Lou Holtz. The two discussed Lou’s time at Notre Dame and it has already been well documented, Holtz led the Fighting Irish to the 1988 National Championship over West Virgina 34-21 in the Fiesta Bowl. Lou Holtz was very instrumental in recruiting NFL Hall of Famers Tim Brown Heisman Trophy Winner Tim Brown, and Jerome “The Bus” Bettis and future Hall Famers Randy Moss and Rocket Ismail. Randy Unfortunately, was not able to attend Notre Dame because of off the field issues, but that is quite the resume in my opinion.
During their discussion, Lou Holtz and Scoop B dive into a signed Notre Dame Football Helmet by Steiner Sports. Underneath Holtz’s name, it reads “1988 National Champs, Screwed in 89,90+93. “I remember vividly signing that,” he told the Scoop B Radio podcast.
“It was for Steiner Sports. It just came to my mind, that is the way I think.”
During this particular moment Coach, Holtz had no idea the helmet would not be sold for profit or for charity.
Earlier in the interview, Holts talks about the infamous Catholics vs. Convicts game featuring the Miami Hurricanes which both teams were undefeated heading into the contest. Before the game, according to Holts, there was a scuffle in the tunnel in which Notre Dame came out victories in a one-point win against Miami 31 to 30. This has been coined the best game in Notre Dame’s history by ESPN’s 30 for 30. The two would go on to discuss a variety of other topics including Colin Kaepernick and NFL players choosing to take a knee during the National Anthem. The Full interview can be heard here.
