Mermaid’s Debut ‘Iridescence’, an Oceanic Melody that Unveils the Colors of Love.

Mermaid, the dynamic musical force, makes an unforgettable splash with their debut album, “Iridescence.” Executive produced by Brittany Campbell, known for her work with Baby Tate and Billy Porter, this 13-track masterpiece clocks in at a Concise 34 minutes and 59 seconds. “Iridescence” is a celebration of the multifaceted hues of the human experience and love.

The album kicks off with “Block 37 (Intro),” setting the tone for what unfolds as an unpredictable adventure. “Thrivin'” follows suit, a groove-laden anthem that sets the mood when “thriving” towards the sunset.

“Broken Silence,” is a smooth groove accompainied with a rich bass and lead guitar synths alongside a saxophone that blows a fresh air into the album.

“Disassociate” stands out with its innovative production, pushing boundaries and expanding Mermaid’s fin. Holding your heads not to fall off is my advice to listeners when vibing to this track. In their lyrics: “Everytime you run your mouth I disassociate”  conjures up you having your peace while getting your groove on.

“Can we talk just a little bit” about the final track, “Wanna Be Your Lover.”  This track just won my week’s favorite track with its amazing instrumental and vocal hooks. Right from the intro of the song “makes me beg for more” and “a little bit”.

With 13 tracks packed into a concise 34 minutes and 59 seconds, “Iridescence” is a sonic journey that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Mermaid’s ability to weave a narrative through sound is commendable, making this debut a must-listen for those seeking a rich and diverse musical experience. “Iridescence” is more than an album; it’s a sonic canvas painted with the many colors of emotion.
