L’Oréal Appoints Liliahn Majeed as Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer for North America

L’Oréal, the world-renowned beauty company, has announced the appointment of Liliahn Majeed as Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer for North America. Majeed will report to David Greenberg, CEO of L’Oréal USA and President of the North America Zone, and will join the management committee of L’Oréal USA as well as the leadership team of Margaret Johnston-Clarke, L’Oréal’s global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are integral to L’Oréal’s business strategy, reflecting the expectations of stakeholders and the diverse beauty expressions of consumers. David Greenberg emphasized the company’s commitment to DE&I, stating that it fuels creativity, innovation, and enriches the workplace culture. He expressed confidence in Majeed’s ability to advance DE&I initiatives, shape culture, and drive business transformation within large, culturally significant organizations. Greenberg looks forward to collaborating with Majeed to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion both within and outside the company.

Liliahn Majeed joins L’Oréal from Universal Music Group (UMG), where she held the position of the first Global Chief Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Officer. At UMG, she led a team focused on enhancing representation, inclusion, equity, and belonging across the global workplace and operations spanning 60 countries. Majeed also co-chaired the Institutional Change Committee of UMG’s Task Force for Meaningful Change, which is dedicated to equality, justice, and inclusion.

Expressing her enthusiasm for her new role, Liliahn Majeed stated her eagerness to contribute to L’Oréal’s efforts to use cultural power and positive influence to foster a more inclusive vision of beauty. Her mission is to lead the global belonging movement, emphasizing the value created by recognizing our similarities and differences.

Prior to her tenure at UMG, Majeed spent 15 years at the National Basketball Association (NBA), where she served as Senior Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion. In that role, she spearheaded diversity and inclusion efforts across the NBA, WNBA, and NBA G League. Majeed launched initiatives such as the NBA’s Women’s Leadership Initiative and NBA Coaches Equality Initiative, organizing events like the Women’s Leadership Forum, NBA All-Star Women in Basketball Operations Forum, and NBA Coaches Summit. She also played an active role in the WNBA Social Justice Council and NBA Social Justice Task Force. Majeed’s career includes management roles at Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and Walt Disney World Resorts. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and hospitality management from Howard University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Majeed assumes the position of Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer for North America, succeeding Angela Guy, who has decided to retire from L’Oréal after a distinguished 19-year career with the company, marked by numerous accolades.
