God Shammgod Weighs-In On Champ From Detroit’s Comments On Him Being A Head Coach One Day, “I’m Honored My Name Is Floating Around”
Dallas Mavericks assistant coach God Shammgod is currently in his sixth season as a part of the organization. Earlier this season, an NBA insider named ‘Champ From Detroit,’ whom you might have heard Stephen A Smith reference as his buddy on First Take from time to time.
Shared that he sees Shammgod as a head coach one day.
“Shammgod the move “parallels “The Smitty” created by Stevie Smith and the Euro Step like Manu Ginobili. On Top of his move, Shammgod is a great basketball mind & will be a future NBA head coach very soon,” said Champ.
Shammgod recently responded to Champ’s comment about potentially becoming a head coach one day.
“I have an aspiration to grow whatever it is. Whether coaching, AD [Athletic Director] at a school or being a GM one day. I’m just a person that loves growth. Whatever God takes me on that journey, I’m just preparing myself for every aspect of basketball. I’m honored that my name is floating around many places,” said Shammgod.
“I take pride in doing the right thing and making sure I am prepared for the next step that God has for me, but one thing I will not do is be impatient again. I want to be a star in my role, whatever role it is. The last time I was impatient, I slipped to the second round. So, that will never happen again. I’m just here to give back. That’s my biggest thing with basketball; I’m just here to help the youth because I didn’t have that when I was growing up, which made me make decisions as an adult. But I was still a child, and I always prided myself once I got into a position where I could help lead the generation. I would do that to the best of my abilities.”
He was drafted 45th overall in the 1997 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards, and only played 20 games during the 1997-98 season.
