After the Warriors took a 2-0 following game two victory against the Portland, behind a stellar defensive game by Draymond Green, who had 16 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and blocks.

Draymond Green was asked by Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic who was the greatest defender of all time?

Green replied, Me.

”The best defender ever? “Me. That’s what I believe. Wholeheartedly.”

On Friday, Hall of Famer and six-time NBA champion with Chicago Bulls, Scottie Pippen was a part of  The Jump panel and was asked by Rachel Nichols how he felt about Draymond’s comments.

”I feel like that guy should have never asked that question. That’s a question that has a numerous amount of answers, and every player is going to give their own opinion, said Pippen.”

”Draymond Green is a tremendous defender. He is more of a team defender than an individual defender, but I give him a lot of credit because he does a lot of things on the defensive end. Being a guy playing 6’6, 6’7 and what does in the paint, but he is not the guy that you put on your best player.  So, how can he consider himself the best defender ever? ”

He would continue:

”I watched him against LeBron James, who we say is the best player in the game. I never saw him guarding LeBron James. Did you guys watch the same game I was watching?”

”I’m not taking anything away from his defensive intensity and the way he plays the game. I love the way he plays; he does a lot of things for a small guy, but he is not the best defender in the game ever. You have to be a better on-ball defender and not just a team defender, said Pippen.”

Like Pippen said it is strictly based on the player’s opinion, which Green is entitled to, but many would not even consider him the best defender on his own team. Klay Thompson normally draws the assignment of guarding the other teams’ best players or if he not on the floor Andre Iguodala or Kevin Durant when healthy.

However, Green is a former Defensive Player of the Year Award that he secured in 2017, but like Scottie Pippen said the answer of who is the best defender ever is based strictly on the player’s opinion.

The Warriors are looking to take a commanding 3-0 series against the Portland Trailblazers tonight at Moda Center in Portland.
