I look Forward To Coaching Again, Says Mark Jackson
On Tuesday morning, Reggie Miller was on Instagram Live with former Warriors head coach Mark Jackson, and he revealed that he still has the desire to coach again in the NBA.
“I look forward to the day, I’m coaching again,” said Jackson.
It has been six years since Mark Jackson was let go in May of 2014 by the Golden State Warriors after back to back playoff appearances.
“Mark Jackson has had a big impact on the improvement of our team and the success that we’ve had over the last couple of years,” Golden State owner Joe Lacob said in a statement. “Nonetheless, we must make some difficult decisions in our day-to-day operations of the club and this would certainly qualify as one of those examples. We wish Mark the best of luck in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions over the last three years.”
Jackson also earned the respect of his players as well, such as Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.
“I love Coach more than anybody, and I think for him to be in a situation where his job is under scrutiny and under question is totally unfair,” Curry said. “And it would definitely be a shock to me if anything like that were to happen.
“I’m going to voice my support for Coach.”

“I love him,” guard Klay Thompson said. “I love playing for Coach Jackson. I hope he’s back. He makes it so fun to go to work every day. I got so much better under his tutelage in three years. I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have him the last three years.
“We went from 47 wins to 51 wins. Hopefully, we go to 55, 60 next year and just keep getting better. I think we’ve got the group to do it.”
During his time in Golden State, Jackson he focused on the defensive of the court and turned the Warriors into one of the league top defensive teams.
“That’s definitely what Coach has built, guys who are going to give max effort,” forward Draymond Green said. “That’s what he preaches every single day. And you fall in line, everybody. You just fall in line. If you have a great leader, you fall in line.”
Someone that had the opportunity watch the Warriors develop under Jackson leadership was Silkk The Shocker. Shocker was at the Warriors practice faculty a lot during Jackson’s time in the Bay Area. He was also recently a guest on Heavy on Lakers’ Live with Daniel Artest, Ben Doody, and Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson. Shocker was asked if thought his friend Mark Jackson would get another opportunity to coach.
“I think someone will do it. I think the problem and not to get political because I have people of all races everywhere. So, it is not even that and I salute any coach that gets a job its a tough thing to get. I think he is going to one and I think the people, who are watching have to make that effort. I think the owners are friends and some coaches if don’t walk [to] the same beat,” said Shocker.
“They make that call and say really don’t mess with him, but, I’m a firm believer, no matter what they say about him [Mark Jackson] this is a real good guy. He is one of the best guys I have met in my life. I don’t know why he isn’t [coaching]. He did everything right and I was around him when, he developed Steph Curry and had all the players, like Draymond [Green]… He is a players coach.”
A couple of weeks ago, there was a report released by odcast/archive/_/id/12426375″ target=”_blank”>ESPN’s Brian Windhorst discussed on his “Hoop Collective” podcast via (Real GM), that Durant, however, may be pushing for Mark Jackson to Brooklyn.
“If you’re paying close attention to social media. Rich Kleiman, who is Kevin Durant’s business partner and is very influential, has been Tweeting about Mark Jackson recently.
“He hasn’t Tweeted, ‘I want Mark Jackson to coach the Nets’, but there was a story in the New York Post just this last week where it was posited about Mark Jackson or Jason Kidd, who obviously was with the Nets before and left after one year. You know, (Kleiman) pretty much said he liked the idea. It is known that Mark Jackson and Kevin Durant have a good relationship. Those Tweets and the Jackson/Nets possible connection with Durant have not gone unnoticed in the NBA.”
Heavy’s Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson reported two weeks ago, if the Nets decide not to bring back interim coach Jacque Vaughn next season, than Lakers assistant coach, Phil Handy could be in the mix and Jason Kidd has also mention as well.
