Feelshift faces the dark with truth and survival on “Night Is When It Hits Me”

Feelshift’s “Night Is When It Hits Me” is a brutal and essential song about the hours most people fear. This song is based on the 3 AM feeling, when everything quiets down, memories start flooding back, and you can’t escape.
The track itself captures the endless tide of flashbacks and the gripping material and emotional pain that rush back in the dark. It stays with the pain and remembers the fights you fight in the space between the world and your mind when no one else is around.
And so Feelshift created “Night Is When It Hits Me,” and therefore it exists. There is a music video to accompany it, which shows the nightly wrangle that lasted for months and put the project in even further jeopardy. It was designed for individuals who are healing from betrayal trauma, infidelity, and relationship abuse, or struggling to cope in the aftermath of a traumatic death or illness, or who feel alone in their pain.
Feelshift’s generosity in sharing such a deeply personal story of survival turns the song into a bond. “Night Is When It Hits Me” isn’t an easy song to listen to, but it’s necessary. It’s proof that music can serve as illumination for someone who is still trying to navigate their way out of the darkness.
