Eleonora Srugo, the real estate mogul who recently appeared on Netflix’s Selling the City, has addressed reports that she is romantically linked to New York City Mayor Eric Adams. In an interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea, Srugo confirmed that Adams and her relationship are strictly platonic, even though they share a close bond.
Srugo Denies Romance with Mayor Eric Adams
During the interview, Srugo, 38, clarified that she has been friends with Eric Adams, 64, since before his mayorship.
“I met the mayor way before he was mayor. We’re friends,” Srugo explained, dismissing any notion of a romantic connection. Despite their close relationship, she emphasized the importance of boundaries, stating, “He’s a busy man — obviously way busier than I am. He gives great advice.”
Srugo acknowledged that dating rumors used to be highly offensive to her, but she’s now questioning the reasons for these assumptions.
“Is it just because, like, he’s a man and I’m a woman? Or he’s a man of color and I’m a white [woman]? Like, what is it that?” Srugo pondered aloud. The speculation seems to have stemmed from the fact that they are often seen together, but she points out that Adams frequently interacts with many people. “There was one article that says I was in a car with him. I mean, there are hundreds of people that go in cars with him.”
A Strong Friendship Based on Shared Interests
What is the precise connection between Eleonora Srugo and Eric Adams? Srugo refers to their shared intellect and commitment to education. She clarifies that they have “a lot of mutual friends” and are both passionate about positively impacting the world. “He also is entitled to have a friend when he finishes work at 9:30 p.m.,” Srugo adds, defending their late-night interactions.
Srugo, an Israeli native who moved to New York City as a child, values, being surrounded by intellectuals. Her upbringing in Soho’s artist lofts, with her actress mother and jazz drummer father, likely contributed to her fondness for engaging with those who want to make a difference. However, she stresses that her relationship with Adams is not about personal matters.
“But I’m not calling him to talk about my boy trouble or anything,” Srugo clarified. “Like, we’re friends.”
Supporting Adams Through His Political Journey
Srugo expressed pride in Eric Adams’ 2021 victory in the mayoral race, describing it as a ‘pinch-me’ moment. Before his win, she had strongly supported him and his vision for the city, and she was excited to see him succeed.
“I’m a New Yorker. I think it’s really cool. How great is that that someone I believed in and saw work really hard and want something and believe that he can do something so well [win],” she said.
Watching Adams achieve his goal was surreal for Srugo, especially given how hard he had to work to get there. Srugo is confident in Adams’ political future, even if they face legal challenges, like a federal case related to alleged conspiracy with Turkish officials.
A federal judge rejected Adams’ request to dismiss part of the case in December 2024, but Srugo supports him. According to her, New Yorkers will ultimately judge his leadership based on the city’s state: “I think most New Yorkers will judge on the state of the city and how they feel everything is going.”
Looking Ahead: New York City and Selling the City
Eleonora Srugo remains focused on her career and her role on Selling the City, representing the vibrant real estate market of New York City. She commented on the city’s resilience, “New York had a little bit of a rough patch, right? New York is the most resilient and incredible place in the world. New York will never be done or over with, OK?”
She pointed out how New York has faced challenges, such as canceling some reality TV shows, but she believes the city is set for a comeback. She also noted that shows like Million Dollar Listing and Real Housewives of New York had to take breaks, but emphasized that New York needed a “great moment on television,” and Selling the City aims to deliver just that.
Eleonora Srugo is currently gracefully navigating her career and friendships, demonstrating that it’s possible to maintain strong professional bonds without succumbing to baseless rumors even in the spotlight. Her narrative serves as a reminder that genuine connections are established through mutual respect and shared interests rather than mere speculation.
