Charlamagne Tha God, who is a radio mogul, has made a significant impact in his hometown by opening a Krystal fast-food restaurant in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Working with the Atlanta-based burger chain and his wife, Jessica Gadsden-McKelvey, Charlamagne is bringing more than just great food to the area. He’s also providing opportunities and recognizing a community that is dear to him.

“Orangeburg is special to us because it’s the home of South Carolina State University, my mother’s alma mater, while my wife’s father is an alumnus of Claflin University,” Charlamagne shared. “I also have an honorary degree from SCSU, where I established the Ford Family Endowed Scholarship Fund. It’s a blessing to continue this mission of providing opportunities and jobs to South Carolinians.”

Krystal’s ambitious expansion involves nearly 300 chains in the Southeast, and the new Orangeburg location is a part of it. This is the fourth franchise in South Carolina, joining those in Aiken, Gaffney, and North Augusta.

Charlamagne, who is well-known for hosting The Breakfast Club, views this venture as more than just a financial investment. Promoting local economic growth is part of his plan to give back to his home state.

“I’m excited to bring Krystal to South Carolina and look forward to opening even more locations in the future,” he said.

Charlamagne is committed to uplifting South Carolina communities by combining his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for philanthropy through this step. Charlamagne is always making an impact in the place where he proudly calls home, whether it be through scholarships, job creation, or expanding beloved food chains.
