Sydney ‘Anya Covington’ Winbush Reflects on Working with a Majority Black Cast in Power

In a heartfelt interview, Sydney Winbush spoke with The Chronicles of Power about her work on the acclaimed series Power. Her experience with a majority Black crew and cast significantly impacted her personally and professionally.

“First of all, working on a production that was majority Black crew and Black cast was such an amazing experience,” Winbush said, highlighting the importance of representation in the entertainment industry. “I just learned so much from everybody.”

The collaborative spirit that characterized her time on set is evident in her emphasis on learning from her peers.

Winbush hoped that Power’s devoted fans, who have been fans for the last decade, would continue to celebrate the show’s rich storytelling and beloved characters even after its conclusion.

“Overall, I hope that, you know—which I know because the fan base is incredible for the last decade of Power—people remember the stories and their favorite characters and still talk about it even when it’s done.”

Her enthusiasm for the project and the people involved is evident as she recounts her experience.

“I had such a fun time working with everybody: cast, crew, production—from the beginning to the end, it was fantastic.”

Winbush’s appreciation for her co-workers is a testament to the positive atmosphere on set, where creativity and collaboration flourished.

Winbush said she wants to work with many of her co-stars again as the Power franchise expands with spin-offs and new projects.

“I would love to work with a lot of these people again.”
