In the ever-evolving world of NBA2k, player ratings and predictions hold a special place in the hearts of gamers and basketball enthusiasts alike. Recently, the spotlight turned to a particular player, Victor Wemby, and his NBA2k rating, leading to intense debates among fans. Ronnie 2k, the face of NBA2k’s marketing and community engagement, took center stage on “The Hoop Chat” with host Emily Austin to address these contentious issues, and even shared his predictions on the coveted Rookie of the Year (ROTY) title.
The NBA2k community has been buzzing about Wemby’s rating, with passionate discussions taking place across social media platforms and gaming forums. Some fans believe the rising star has been underrated in the game, while others argue that his virtual representation is a true reflection of his skills. Ronnie 2k, as the person responsible for player ratings, is no stranger to this kind of scrutiny.
As the episode kicked off, Emily Austin wasted no time in diving headfirst into the controversy. Ronnie 2k, known for his diplomacy and thorough understanding of the game, acknowledged that player ratings are always a hot topic among gamers.
“Yeah, so,84 the highest since we changed our rating system to be like historical. So for years we didn’t have Legends and then 2K11 we added Jordan and a bunch of Legends and since then we’ve had them so our ratings things change,” said Ronnie 2k.
Regarding Wemby’s rating, Ronnie 2k emphasized that NBA2k was trying to make a real statement that they think the Spurs rookie is going to be really good.
“But Wendy’s not only like the highest rookie, but the highest by a lot John Wall and Zion Williamson were also 81s. So, for him to be an 84 it’s a real statement that we’re making that we think he’s going to be really good.”
For realism in its gameplay, and that means accurately representing players’ skills. However, as we know about every installment of NBA 2k rates go up and down every season, so the rating system at the beginning of the season is far from perfect, and the team makes ongoing adjustments to better reflect real-world performance.
The conversation didn’t stop at player ratings. Emily Austin pressed Ronnie 2k for his take on who he thinks will be this year’s Rookie of the Year. Ronnie, never one to shy away from a challenge, gave his prediction. He stated, “Chet Holmgren is going to be rookie.”
