Powers’ Joseph Sikora Reveals He Almost Missed Out On Tommy Egan Role Due To His Wedding [Watch]

Tommy Egan aka Joseph Sikora has been a major force in the world of Power from the start.
But the character actually had a very different name when the show was first developed.
From when fans met Tommy in 2014 of the original Power series to the final of Season 1 of Power Book IV: Force, his character development has grown over the years.
“Tommy falls back into a lot of his old habits,” according to TV Line. “But we are seeing a slightly evolved character, for sure. Going down the same path that we do at our best as humans, that we don’t make the same mistakes as in our past… Yet we still fall subject to some of our old habits. Tommy can’t help himself with beautiful women. [Laughs] Tommy can’t help himself with his desire to be Number 1. He can’t help himself with his incredible hatred and rage problem, to leaping before he looks. But he has evolved into a much more deft strategist. But so did [Power‘s] Tariq. I think the death of Ghost opened up the spirit of the strategy that made a really complex gangster, and that is now Tommy.”
In a recent episode of the Crew Has it, Joseph Sikora revealed that 50 Cent originally wanted to play Ghost [James St. Patrick] and Tommy Egan name was originally Eddie O’Neal.
When Courtney Kemp started developing Power, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson wanted to be featured as Ghost. The producers were trying to refer to his best friend as Eddie O’Neal. However, when 50 Cent decided to be an executive producer, the part of Ghost was played by Omari Hardwick, and Tommy Egan was born.
He also revealed that he almost didn’t get the role because he missed his auditions for Eddie O’Neal because of his wedding. However, the stars aligned, and he was able to audition again, and the rest is history.
Sikora shared that he only read with Omari Hardwick for Ghost and Tommy Egan. In an earlier episode of the Crew Has It Podcast, Courtney Kemp revealed every black actor that you could think of read for Ghost because the studio was looking for a big name. However, Hardwick was her first choice and once all of the other names past or did not get the role, she was able to cast the actor she wanted.
Force is scheduled to premiere next year after Power Book II: Ghost is finished, which is scheduled to premiere in March.
