Mavs Legend Dirk Nowitzki’s Former Running Mate, Believes He Deserves A Seat In The Ownership Box

Four years ago, Dallas Mavericks legend and future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki shared that it’s an honor that Mavericks Governor Mark Cuban was willing to consider potentially selling him a stake in the team.
“It is an honor that he said that; I want to focus on me still playing and whatever I decide to do after my career. We will cross that bridge when we get there,” Nowitzki told me.
On Wednesday night, Nowitzki’s former running mate turned Jazz assistant, Jason Terry, believes Dirk deserves an ownership seat.
“Man, you never know. Some people seem to believe he already has some ownership stake, but Cuban is blessed; he’s fortunate. If anyone deserves it, I know Dirk does,” said Terry.
Terry has not only former teammate that would like to see Nowitzki have an ownership stake in the Mavericks.
Bally Sports Southwest analyst, Devin Harris thinks “It’s fitting.”
“I think it is fitting. What he has done for this organization, and he poured his heart, sweat, and tears about it, and brought a championship back,” said Harris. I think it would be a fitting way to end it or begin it. By giving him a piece of that and allowing him to make some of those discussions.”
Brendan Haywood won a championship with Dirk Nowitzki in 2011 and weighed in last season by stating Dirk deserves a seat at the table.
“I think what Dirk has done for the organization, how he has represented himself and the community, and the championship that they brought to Dallas. I think it is only right a small percentage of the Dallas Mavericks,” said Haywood.
“Just a small percentage and a seat at the table because you think of Dirk Nowitzki when you think of the Dallas Mavericks. You think of 2011 and that special team and that special run that he went on. So, when you think about all the sacrifices to help make that name, the Dallas Mavericks great. I think Dirk and Mark Cuban becoming partners in some way somehow is just the next step.”
The Dallas Mavericks would go on to beat the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night, 103-100 and improving there record to 4-3 through seven games.
