Chris Bosh Was A Fierce Competitor And Miami Retiring His Jersey Is Well Deserved, Says Dirk Nowitzki

On Tuesday night, the Miami Heat raised the number 1 into the rafters making it official, that no one will ever don the number 1 jersey again. Future Hall of Famer Chris Bosh will be forever ingrained in Miami Heat history. The 6’11 stretch four helped lead the Heat to four straight Finals appearances from 2010-2014, winning two out four alongside LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade.
The trio dubbed The Big 3 came together during the summer of 2010 after LeBron James announced that he would be taking his talents to South Beach in an interview with ESPN and Jim Gray when James arrived in South Beach. LeBron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade were introduced to Heat fans at a welcome party. James said they were not going to win not one, two, three, four, five, six, seven championships. They would end up losing their first finals appearance to Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks in six games.
The Mavericks were able to get revenge five years after they lost to the Heat in 2006. Dwyane Wade would be named the Finals MVP in that series, but this time around Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks celebrated on the Heat’s home court.
The Dallas Mavericks were in Miami to take on Heat for the final time in Dwyane Wade’s career. After morning shootaround Dirk Nowitzki was asked to share his thoughts on Bosh getting his jersey retired by the Heat.
“Chris and I had some unbelievable battles, and a few of them were on the biggest stage. He was always a fierce competitor on the court and a class act off the court. His jersey getting retired in Miami was well-deserved,” Nowitzki told me.
During his 12 seasons in the NBA, Bosh averaged 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
The Miami Heat would go on to beat the Dallas Mavericks 105-99, as Wade comes up with a steal late to seal the game late for Miami.
