Last June,
Weber presented the question of would you ever consider buying an NBA Franchise.
In which he responded:
“I definitely want to be a part of ownership in the NBA. I’m not going to try to buy a team. I don’t have that kind of bread, but I definitely want to be a part of a great ownership group. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is all about players being involved in an ownership capacity,“ said Wade
He would continue:
“You’ve got players like Grant Hill involved in the Atlanta Hawks. Shaquille O’Neal is involved in the Sacramento Kings. It’s definitely something that I’ve talked about, some of my friends have talked about. But, first of all, I’d have to be retired. When that time comes.“
Webster followed his original question with which team Wade wants to purchase.
“Seattle. I want a Seattle’s team, the Sonics, to come back. I think Seattle is a great basketball town. I would love to be a part of that. But I’m open—if you know somebody,“ said Wade.
The Miami Heat were recently in Dallas to take on the Dallas Mavericks as a part of Dwyane Wade
During the pre-game media scrum, I asked Wade has he spoken to the Seattle Management group that is trying to bring the Sonics franchise back to Seattle.
“I love Seattle it’s great, unfortunately, it is not a part of the NBA. So, when the question was asked of me about what franchise you want to see back? Seattle was the one for me.
“Now, when talking about who do I want to be an owner with, Miami gets first dibs, and then I go from there. Obviously, this organization would be the first one I would love to sit down and talk about that when the time is right. I live on the Westcoast as well, so I definitely would love to see Seattle comeback and be a big part of the NBA because it is a great sports town. So, it kind of got twisted from what I was really saying,“ Wade, told me.
