The Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz had a competitive Wednesday evening. Things got contentious with the Warriors leading 121-119 and under a minute left. Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson tried to get to the basket and got in trouble with Jonathan Kuminga. Kuminga got up and blocked the shot, and Clarkson appeared to get him from behind around the neck.
This put Kuminga away and he had to be restrained by his teammates as a crash was almost put out to sea. Meanwhile, Clarkson had to be restrained by officials as he surrounded the Warriors forward. It took several minutes for things to calm down. Finally, the refs looked at the sequence and evaluated a Flagrant 2 in Clarkson, ejecting it from the game.
The Warriors were about to hit one of the two free throws, giving them a three-point lead. After Klay Thompson blocked a shot at the next Jazz possession, Jordan Poole also made one for two at the line. That’s when the madness actually followed.
The Jazz’s Malik Beasley sank a deep triple, bringing the deficit down to 123-122 with just under seven seconds remaining. The Warriors requested a time-out, which allowed them to step into the ball on the front court. However, Poole got the ball stolen by Nickeil Alexander-Walker, leading to a dunk by Simone Fontecchio with 1.3 seconds to go. The Warriors endured a devastating and heart-wrenching 124-123 defeat on the road.
