Uncle Drew the movie starring Kyrie Irving, Lil Rel Howery, Shaquille O’Neal, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, Chris Webber, and Lisa Leslie was released in the summer of 2018. The film is about Dax (Lil Rel Howery), who spent his life savings to enter his team in a street basketball tournament at legendary Rucker Park. However, Dax is dealt a raw hand when he loses his team to his rival (Nick Kroll), and his girlfriend, and apartment.

Dax would become desperate to win the tournament along with the cash prize, and he would stumble across the legendary Uncle Drew. Played by Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving and convinces him to come out of retirement and return to the court one last time. The two men would later embark on a road trip to round up former teammates of Uncle Drew teammates. The squad would end winning the tournament after Dax hits a game-winning shot as the clock expires.

Speaking of Nate Robinson, he played a character by the name of Boots in the movie. Boots spent most of the film in a wheelchair until he received his kicks and then proceeded to ball out. Robinson is hoping that there will be a sequel to the Uncle Drew film.

“I hope so, and I just got my character Boots tattoed on my leg. I had to pay homage and thank Uncle Drew Films and Kyrie Irving. Along with all my castmates, who played in such as Shaquille O’Neal, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, Chris Webber, Lisa Leslie, Lil Rel Howery, and Tiffany Haddish. It was pretty cool to be part of something so special that is something I will never forget throughout the rest of my life. It was awesome, and I had a great time just being around those guys for a whole month & a half filming. It was such a treat for me I was like a kid in the candy store it was so cool to be able to listen to stories Shaq, Reggie Miller, and those guys tell different stories from when they were in the league. It was just a blessing!” Robinson told me.

Robinson is currently in the middle of his second season with the Big 3 three on three basketball league as a member of Tri-State. Tri-State is currently in 10th with a 2-4 record.
