Gervonta “Tank” Davis angered Ryan Garcia on Tuesday by saying that the reason he is retarded is that his parents are cousins, according to boxingnews24.com.
In reaction, Ryan said he was going to knock out Tank (27-0, 25 KO) for one minute, and when he wakes up, he will apologize for those words.
Ryan (23-0, 19KOs) goes to great lengths to make the lightweight champion WBA Tank Davis angry enough to agree to fight him.
Ryan’s problem is that he is fighting on a different network than Tank Davis, and he wants him to go up to 140 instead of meeting him in his division.
Tank is too small for the 140-pound division, and this was already established when he struggled to defeat former paper champion, Mario Barrios, last year.
Since Ryan is the one who wants to fight with Tank Davis, it doesn’t make sense for him to drop to his weight class at 135. If Ryan can’t or won’t fight at lightweight, he must focus on fighting 140-pound fighters and leave Tank alone.
