Tennis legend Serena Williams announced her retirement in a Vogue article earlier this year.

“I have never liked the word ‘retirement,‘” Williams wrote. “Maybe the best word to describe what I’m up to is ‘evolution.’ I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me,” said Williams.

Williams has 73 singles, 23 doubles, and over $94 million in career gains.

Williams is generally considered to be one of the greatest athletes ever. In her article in Vogue, she noted that some of her detractors note that she has not won the biggest Grand Slam title in the history of women’s tennis, however.

“There are people who say I’m not the GOAT because I didn’t pass Margaret Court’s record of 24 grand slam titles, which she achieved before the ‘open era’ that began in 1968,” Williams wrote. “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want that record.”

Unfortunately for Williams would fall in the third round of the US Open to Ajla Tomljanović.

In a recent interview Dallas Mavericks governor, Mark Cuban talked about Williams announcing her retirement.

“Serena what she was on the court was special, but what she was off the count was even more special. Because she created an identity for herself, and her business acumen is really impressive.”

Speaking of Williams, she was recently at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco where she teased that she wasn’t retired.

“I’m not retired,” Williams said.

In fact, Serena goes on to say there’s a good chance fans will be able to watch her compete again … but followed up with a joke.

“The chances are very high,” Willaims said. “You can come to my house, I got a court. I got you.”

Last month, Williams named dropped, Tom  Brady when talking about a potential comeback in an interview with Good Morning America.

“I mean, you never know. I’ve just been saying that Tom Brady started a really cool trend…”
