Kevin Durant Reacts to Passing Hakeem Olajuwon for 12th All-Time on the All-Time Scoring List

Suns forward Kevin Durant, entering Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the future Hall of Famer, needed just 37 points to pass Hakeem Olajuwon for 12th on the All-Time Scoring List. Durant would score 39 points and add 11 rebounds and two assists in 39 minutes of play against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Unfortunately for Durant and the Suns, it did not result in a win as it took some late-game heroics from LeBron James as the Lakers beat the Suns 100-95 at Crypto.com Arena. James would finish with 21 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists in 35 minutes of play. James running mate Anthony Davis would finish with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists in 39 minutes of play.

After the game, Durant was asked about dispute it happening in a loss by Duane Rankin to share his thoughts on passing Hakeem Olajuwon for 12th All-Time on the Scoring list.

“”Olajuwon that’s my mom. My mom had a crush on Olajuwon when I was a kid. So that’s all I used to hear in the house. It wasn’t Jordan. It was Olajuwon in the house you know?” Said Durant.

” And somebody she told me to study since the kid and you know, so really admire his game and his journey as a man and basketball player. So it’s always amazing to be up amongst the greats so grateful.”

The Suns and Kevin Durant will play again against the Utah Jazz on Sunday in Utah at 11pm EST.
