On Tuesday night, Dwyane Wade was asked on TNT’s NBA on TNT show if talk to anyone about not having to worry about traveling and just being able to focus on basketball and getting the message about social justice issues.
“Well, yeah from a basketball stand point we see it, it is strictly basketball. There is not a lot of distractions in the bubble and I think from that stand point of build that camaraderie as team and that togetherness as a team, that’s all you have. That’s the only thing you have and these guy find different ways to do that,”said Wade.
Wade also talks about how guys like LeBron James, himself, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony are using their platforms to shine light on social issues and using their resources to help others.
“When you it comes to social justice issues these guys are using their platform and voices, LeBron [James] started ‘More Than a Vote,’ and everything he has done. And other players have joined him it has been phenomenal. Myself, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul we started the Social Change Fund, so for me to not be in the NBA, but still be apart of making sure we use our platform,” shared Wade.
“To make sure that we are doing the work and supporting the people who are really doing the work in the communities. In the black communities and that’s our mission and on the Social Change Fund to make sure the social and economic issues and the black issues that we get to that. And we use our reach and that’s what these guys are doing using their reach and using their resources, and voice to bring and shine a brighter light on all these issues.”
