DJ Akademiks Reveals What He Wants His Next Part Of His Legacy To Be

Spotify

Earlier this month, DJ Akademiks brought together two polar opposite personalities in Wack 100 and Tekashi 6ix9ine for his newest podcast, Off The Record, with DJ Akademiks.

The new Spotify Exclusive video podcast will be available three times a week beginning September 20. He will bring the controversial personality of the media to the conversation with artists and emblematic personalities and cover the news in hip-hop and music.

Off the Record with DJ Akademiks is a show about music, entertainment, and culture. After years of reporting the latest musical trends, Akademiks has cemented his voice into the conversation. Now with Spotify, he intends to take his hip hop coverage to the next level.

On Wednesday afternoon, DJ Akademiks was on Clubhouse in the Sleepless in Los Angeles, and during his appearance, Akademiks shared how he wants to add his legacy.

“If I’m into some s*** I’m into some s*** that’s my personal taste on a song I like an artist that I see. I was born in Speartown Jamaica I look for a reason to post things from Jamaica because there is not a page for it. Do I want to build a platform that makes dancehall music hell yeah. These are personal taste things that I want to do,” said Akademiks.

“I will also say this, and I hope y’all understand or given me when I say, man, I have won already. I have done my thing. I am not someone that is trying to hog the ball. Also, I am not going to be the one size fits all; I see many people have criticism like Ak, why don’t you do this, why don’t you do that. So I encourage all of y’all to build platforms, build your own voices that if AK doesn’t do something, that’s where you come in. In reasonable I want to shine a light on doing something that I don’t do.”

He added: “The next part of my legacy is going to be who I put on in a media sense. After that, I want to have a type of legacy where I am helping other people’s platforms get to build or promoting them and being a part of that.”

Akademiks recently came to the defense of DaBaby after his comments at Miami’s Rolling Loud.
