Anthony ‘Spice’ Adams spent nine seasons as a defensive tackle in the NFL before transition into a successful television host, actor, and comedian.

Many might not beware, he played basketball and Football in high school, before going on to make a name for himself on the football field at Penn State.

“I used to hoop in high school, but I kept hurting my ankle. I played all five positions and my jersey used to be all tight. I couldn’t fit the jersey, it was all bad for me in high school,’ Adams told Ryan Hollins on Instagram Live.

“I have been the same height and size since I was 12. So, I was 5’11 and weighed 289. Everybody thought I was going to be 6’5 or 6’6, I just didn’t grow vertically, but I grew horizontally.”

Adams also participated in the celebrity basketball game in Chicago this past season. During the game, Adams shook Grammy and Oscar award winning artist, Common out of his jockstrap. However, according to Adams, the play is where you see ex-NBA veteran, Quentin Richardson block his shot. He injured his hand and would need surgery.

“I come down the court, and I see Common. I say Common; you are about to get this work, I gave him a little move to see if he bit on it. And he did because he respects the speed, bit on it, and then I gave him ‘a little hesi.’ He fell for that one too; then I cross him up, he felt the for the cross.

“Now, I’m going to the hole strong because I’m from “The D” [Detroit]. I’m taking the contact from Common, he is all on my shoulder, and then I come with the lay. Then here comes Q Rich hit my whole hand. I had to get surgery, and everyone was saying he hit the ball. My whole hand was out of commission. Listen, I was looking like a penguin, and people don’t see that part. He fouled me, and the ref did not call it,” shared Adams.

“He wasn’t done, “Common’s jock strap was on the United Center’s court, and who wear jock straps in the Celebrity All-Star game. It was like a choo-choo train, and Q-Rich was hating because I shook his fellow Chicagoan, so let me go foul him.”
