“Carry the Torch” is a breakout song from Katie Wright’s album “Glitter,” which was inspired by her battles with VEDS. Only 36, and having endured numerous life-threatening close calls, Wright has turned her struggle into music that pulses with the strength of courage and light.
The track acknowledges the intensity of Wright’s own reality, but leans towards a horizon at which the future looks hopeful. It is an anthem for survival, and it feels personal, lived-in, and highly relatable to anyone who has stared into darkness but decides to press on anyway.
“Carry the Torch” is about walking right into sidestepping pain, clutching a torch of strength, and refusing to let it be put out. And this song is a reminder that, even in the most precarious of times, there is strength to be found in creativity, in truth-telling, and in not letting fear become you. In any battle, whether professional or personal, we all need our courage to be held up to the light.
