Fifteen years after signing with WWE, Jey Uso finally reached the mountaintop by making Gunther tap out at WrestleMania 41 to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Known for his tag team legacy, “Main Event” Jey Uso proved he’s a top-tier singles competitor on the biggest stage of them all.

After joining WWE fifteen years ago, Jey Uso’s journey reached a pivotal moment on Night  One of WrestleMania 41. Uso achieved what few believed was possible during Saturday night’s main event by forcing ‘The Ring General’ Gunther to tap out. He won the World Heavyweight Championship and established himself as more than just a tag team specialist.

An emotional victory was achieved after a tough match showcasing power and emotion. Jey delivered three consecutive Uso Splashes, his signature high-flying finisher, before locking in a sleeper hold that forced Gunther to submit. The crowd in Las Vegas went wild when the referee announced the end of Gunther’s dominant 259-day reign.

Jey saw this as the culmination of a years-long evolution, not just another win. Jey, who was known for his tag team dominance with his twin brother Jimmy Uso, earned 10 tag team championships throughout his WWE career, eight of them with The Usos. In recent years, he has started to define who he is.

In 2020, Jey’s journey into singles took shape when Jimmy was injured and sidelined. Aligning with Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman, he earned the moniker ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso for consistently delivering in high-stakes matches. The spotlight eventually led him deeper into the Bloodline storyline, a family saga leading him to turn his back on Reigns and leave on his own.

While Jey flirted with solo gold last year, including a brief reign as Intercontinental Champion, he fell short in significant opportunities, most notably against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event earlier this year. Despite this, fate had other plans.

At the Royal Rumble, Jey surprised fans by surviving against a lineup of prominent wrestlers, including John Cena, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins. His elimination of Cena was not just symbolic but also laid the groundwork for a world title showdown at WrestleMania.
Jey faced mental and physical struggles during the buildup when choosing Gunther as his opponent.

Gunther, true to form, used mind games and brutality. Most notably, he zip-tied Jey to the ropes, forcing him to watch Jimmy endure a savage beating on Raw. Their imminent clash was heightened by the tense moment.

But at WrestleMania 41, Jey Uso didn’t just survive—he conquered. Using his grit, heart, and strong crowd, Jey ended Gunther’s reign and reached a new level.

Saturday night marked a turning point for Jey Uso, the son of a legendary wrestling family who made his name in the tag team division. Jey is now the World Heavyweight Champion, not just a brother of Jimmy or a member of The Bloodline.
