Are you currently listening to Polynesian artists who make Rap, Hip-Hop or R&B; if no, then why not? In 2025 it is safe to say that these genres share a common interest around the world for not only listeners, but also artist to express themselves.

I first heard rap created by Polynesians in the 1990s, in which, my uncle would play music created by the Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E (Too Rough International Boo-Yaa Empire) who consisted of Somoan brothers Paul (Ganxsta Ridd), Ted (Godfather), Donald (Kobra), Roscoe (Murder One), Danny (Monsta O), David (E.K.A.) and Vincent (Gawtti) Devoux.

This music group used G-funk, gangsta rap and rap metal to stand out from other artist as they eventually collaborated with legends such as Mack 10 on the song “Bang On,” and Eminem & B-Real on the song “911”

Through media outlets such as YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple, fans have the chance to listen to artist that are mainstream and independent, but for me I always keep my ears to the streets for up and coming artist. Currently, I cannot stop listening to TaioJr, Tasi1K, Bad Boy Mook and Jody Cash.

TaioJr

7 albums in and I must say that TaioJr is in full motion to becoming not only a top Polynesian artist creating Rap, Hip-Hop and R&B, but with marketing and support he has the ability to become a top musician period because in my opinion he cannot miss as he has released hit after hit. Some of my favorite songs include; “Pressha” from his EP “For Her Ears Only VOL. II,” “Drumline, ” “200” from his album Kamp Fire and lastly “we on TN!” ft Boi from TaioJr’s 2025 album titled “for i so loved MY CITY”

check out his two part documentary for his 2025 album release and his banger “Pressha” below.

Tasi1k

I first came across Tasi1k on TikTok and at first I thought he was a comedian, but after deep diving into his background not only does he create music, but he too is apart of the Stack Bundle Podcast where you can frequently can catch him clown’n with other artist, his homies and love ones. According to Spotify, his #1 most listened to is “Drink Wit Me” which has over 300,000 listens.

Bad Boy Mook

On Instagram he goes by The Rockstar, but as an entrepreneur there are 3 things that Bad Boy Mook stands on which is Faith, Fatherhood and Family. Bad Boy Mook will be dropping his sophomore album “No Ones Coming” scheduled to drop 5/16/2025 as it’s been two years since he dropped his debut album “Welcome To The Game. Currently, his most listened to song is “Real Different (To Be Honest)” w/ over 50k listens.

* Most recently both Tasi1k and Bad Boy Mook were featured on PHI’s “Too Long”

Jody Cash

Just the other day I was listening to Tacoma, WA native Lewie on Spotify when I started hearing the voice of an unfamiliar artist. When the song “Any Other Day” started playing I first heard the sample from Tyrese’s hit “Sweet Lady”. As I let the song play out I knew I had to add Jody Cash to my playlist. I started doing my research and found out he released his first album “Broken Bad” in 2021 and followed with his sophomore album “Blase” in 2022. With there being a 3 year time gap since his last album release fans can anticipate that Jody Cash has something cooking up soon.
