It must be accurate when conversing about basketball with a Hall-of-Famer like Tracy McGrady because T-Mac will always have the receipts.

Tylil James learned that lesson in a live conversation with the seven-time NBA All-Star, who hit him with a one-liner so smooth that the chat became chaotic. It all started when Tylil, 24, casually commented about his age.

“You not old, though. I’m not young. I’m 24. Young with an old would… what was you doing at 24?”

McGrady unleashed an all-time mic drop moment without hesitation:

Tylil was immediately shocked. His reaction summed it up.

“Averaging 30.”

“He definitely humbled me. That’s the end of the stream, chat…. And he walked off.”

T-Mac departed the room like how he used to leave defenders in his wake. McGrady was spitting straight facts for context, not just talking. During his 24th year with the Orlando Magic in the 2002-03 season, he averaged 32.1 points per game, leading the NBA in scoring and becoming one of the league’s most unguardable players. T-Mac was more than a bucket; he was a walking nightmare for defenders. Whether it was his silky jump shot, effortless athleticism, or ability to score from anywhere, the man was built differently.

What about Tylil?

He dealt with the humility with grace. Despite the lighthearted interaction, it was a perfect reminder that legends have different paths. When talking about greatness with someone, be prepared for the truth. McGrady’s game on and off the court is clearly elite, even though he may be retired.
