Celtics Championship Ring Gets Boost from Lakers Owner Jeanie Buss

The Boston Celtics honored their storied history and recent accomplishments by obtaining their NBA Championship rings in advance of their season opener against the New York Knicks at TD Bank Garden. The rings were designed by Jason Arasheben, owner of Jason of Beverly Hills, who faced a unique challenge when approached for this prestigious commission: loyalty.

Arasheben, who had previously designed championship rings for the Los Angeles Lakers, struggled with the potential repercussions of the fierce rivalry between the Celtics and Lakers. “Would this piss off the Lakers?” he pondered during his discussions about the Celtics’ rings, as he shared with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson of Scoop B Radio. The deep-seated animosity between the two storied franchises, which has defined NBA history, was the source of his concern.

In 2009, Arasheben’s career began with the creation of the Lakers’ championship ring, and since then, he has become a trusted jeweler for championship rings in all major sports leagues. With a portfolio that includes designs for the Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks, and Los Angeles Rams, he is no stranger to high-profile projects. Crafting the Celtics’ rings was a distinct game.

Before taking up the deal with the Celtics, Arasheben asked Jeanie Buss, the owner of the Lakers, for her blessing to navigate this potential land mine. Buss was incredibly supportive and responded enthusiastically, which relieved him.

“Are you kidding me? It was music to my ears.”

Buss took an unexpected step and reached out to Celtics co-owners Wyc Grousbeck and Emilia Fazzalari to advocate for Arasheben, highlighting his talent and prior work.

Securing the deal was a major accomplishment. The Lakers’ ownership helped Arasheben’s Jason of Beverly Hills outbid renowned competitors Tiffany’s and Jostens. In Los Angeles this summer, Arasheben and Grousbeck collaborated to design a championship ring that reflects both the Celtics’ legacy and the lively character of Boston.

The stunning rose gold and diamond-encrusted rings feature engravings celebrating the franchise’s 18 championships and highlight key moments from last season’s playoffs. The ring contains information on the Celtics’ impressive playoff run, in which they defeated the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers before sweeping the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. The NBA Finals victory over the Dallas Mavericks, which they won 4-1, is also commemorated.

The ring’s top has a twist-off feature that reveals a hidden Celtics 2024 NBA Championship banner inside. Additionally, it displays a replica scoreboard from Game 5 of the Finals, which reads 106-88, a tribute to the Celtics’ triumphant performance. The team’s motto, ‘Whatever It Takes,’ is also added to each player’s ring with their jersey number encrusted in diamonds.

This story is even more remarkable because Arasheben has connections to some current Celtics players, such as Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Jayson Tatum, who are also his clients. Even though he was connected to the Lakers during the Kobe Bryant and LeBron James eras,

Arasheben’s commitment to creating an unforgettable ring for the Celtics shows his ability to bridge divisions in a sport defined by fierce rivalries.

With their championship rings on, the Celtics not only celebrated their past achievements but also welcomed a future filled with promise. Thanks to Arasheben’s artistic talent and the collaborative spirit between rival organizations, the Celtics’ rings are a testament to excellence, loyalty, and the enduring legacy of one of the NBA’s greatest franchises.
