Reginald VelJohnson, best known for his role as Carl Winslow on Family Matters, is speaking out against rumors linking him to rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. His sharp rebuke has highlighted the unfounded nature of these claims, but the rumors continue to circulate, fueled by Diddy’s high-profile legal situation. The buzz surrounding VelJohnson’s denial comes at a time when Diddy’s behavior is under scrutiny. On September 16, a grand jury indicted the rapper on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, which were detailed in a 14-page indictment unsealed the following day. The indictment paints a disturbing picture, accusing Diddy of engaging in a decade-long pattern of abuse, coercion, and exploitation. It alleges that the music mogul orchestrated events known as “Freak Offs,” described as elaborate sex performances that often took place in hotels. The court documents claim Diddy would not only participate in these acts but would also record them for his own use. Further adding to the sensationalism of the case, law enforcement raided Diddy’s Miami and Beverly Hills homes earlier this year in March, uncovering a trove of items allegedly used during these events. The list included narcotics and more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. This discovery became a bizarre focal point of the public conversation, with many questioning why such an excessive amount of baby oil was found.TMZ reported that the 72-year-old actor firmly denied all speculation on Thursday, September 25 and said,

‘It’s all bullshit.’ I don’t know that man. I never met that man before. I wish him well, though.”

After Diddy’s recent legal troubles took center stage, the rumors came to light. Accusations of sex trafficking and racketeering were made against the rapper earlier this month, which caused a stir in the entertainment industry. A resurfaced clip from comedian Luce Cannon was gaining attention as discussions about Diddy’s case grew. In the clip,  Cannon claimed to have witnessed VelJohnson, and Diddy engaging in an intimate situation, and this claim gained more attention after Charlamagne Tha God discussed it on Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant podcast in May. VelJohnson, a Dancing With the Stars contestant, quickly dismissed the accusations.

“I never met him,” he said emphatically, while urging those who spread the rumors to “get a life.”

The list included narcotics and more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. This discovery became a bizarre focal point of the public conversation, with many questioning why such an excessive amount of baby oil was found.

Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s lawyer, talked about the baby oil controversy while interviewing TMZ in their upcoming documentary, The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment.

“I don’t know what you need a thousand [bottles] for,” Agnifilo said. “I mean, he has a big house. He buys in bulk. I think they have Costcos in every place where he has a home.” Agnifilo continued to express disappointment with the prosecution’s approach, stating, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”

Diddy’s legal team insists that he is innocent while he remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The rapper has pleaded not guilty to the charges and his lawyer has urged people to hold off on judgment until all the facts are presented in court.

“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. … These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” Agnifilo stated.

Reginald VelJohnson has made it clear that he has no connection to Diddy as his legal troubles continue. His unwavering and public denial demonstrates that even unfounded rumors can easily spread in today’s digital age, which complicates an already controversial and high-stakes situation. VelJohnson is currently focused on his current stint on Dancing With the Stars and is determined to make things right.
