Blake Griffin’s Body Double Feels Him Joining The Celtics Is A Great Fit For Both Parties
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Blake Griffin signed with the Boston Celtics on one deal earlier this offseason.
Griffin should help the Eastern Conference champions overcome the absence of the Robert Williams III Centre, which is expected to miss 8-12 weeks after knee surgery. Luke Kornet sprained his ankle a short time after training camp started.
In a recent interview, Griffin’s body double, Adam Zahn talked about how Griffin’s skillset can help the Celtics.
“I think it’s a great fit. I mean they have a lot of young talent; they have a lot of guys that are hungry to win and as Blake is a vet now, he can enter and really Embrace that vet role,” said Zahn.
“Whether he’s starting to get substantial minutes or coming off the bench being a utility guy, I think the older you get, the more you appreciate and can recognize roles within the team, right? You’re not so caught up in stats and personal glory. I think he got a great deal at this point, and the Celtics are a good fit.”
Zahn added, “So I think it could be something where he can, come and still showcase his scoring ability, but it’s going to be more, I think, a leadership role with the younger guys now that he’s been around. He’s seen he’s been coached by a lot of different coaches. He’s played with many different teammates, been in many different situations, and gone on deep playoff runs. So, I think that experience will really lend to help the Celtics this season for sure.”
Griffin is a six-time All-Star that hit a career low of 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in 17 minutes with the Brooklyn Nets last season. In 12 seasons in the NBA, he averaged 19.8 and 8.2 rebounds.
