Broncos’ Jerry Jeudy Suffered the Same Injury As Lakers LeBron James, Says Ex-Lakers Staffer
Earlier this month, Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy suffered a high ankle sprain and expected to miss four to six weeks, according to ESPN.
In the third quarter of the team’s 27-13 week one victory over the New York Giants, the injury occurred. After the game, Broncos coach Vic Fangio said that the initial exam on Jeudy’s right ankle did not show any fractures.
“He’s definitely got a high ankle sprain, everything else checked out good,” Fangio said. “He’s going to miss some time. be hard to put a timetable.”
After the injury, Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater revealed that he spoke to Jeudy.
“I talked to Jerry briefly,” Bridgewater said. “He means a lot to this offense. You watch him; he’s creating separation in the pass game. He’s making tough catches across the middle. He’s getting open for us on third downs, different things. So, he’s a guy who means a lot to this offense, a lot to this team, and we’ll continue to pray for him and can’t wait to get him back.”
According to former Lakers trainer Marco Nunez, Jeudy suffered the same injury that caused LeBron James to miss time with the Los Angeles Lakers last season.
Nunez was on the Waiver Wire Selection Podcast and pointed out the comparison.
“Jerry Jeudy was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain, and for those of you that are basketball fans, it is the same injury that LeBron James sustained last year right before the playoffs. Now, a high ankle sprain, you are looking at a minimum of four weeks,” said Nunez.
“Usually, four to six weeks is the average time, probably a little longer, because he’s a wide receiver and needs to move around a lot. If you go and look back, it is the same injury that Christian McCaffrey last year when he sustained the high ankle sprain injury; he was out for almost eight weeks. So, don’t be surprised if he is out longer with an average of six weeks.”
James suffered his injury back in March in the second quarter against Atlanta Hawks. The Lakers would lose that game 99-94.
“Nothing angers and saddens me more than not being available to and for my teammates!” James tweeted. “I’m hurt inside and out right now. The road back from recovery begins now. Back soon like I never left.”
The Lakers would make the playoffs but were eliminated in the first round by the Phoenix Suns.
